About Me & Fees

What Sets Me Apart

I am a seasoned practitioner with the wisdom of over 40 years of experience, and I have worked with an extremely broad range of human issues. While I have training in many different methods, I take an integral approach that uses and knits them all together in a way that fits each unique individual.

My Approach

Whether providing psychotherapy or life coaching, I take a whole-person approach, giving attention and care to body, mind, relationships, environment, and each person’s own sense of spirit or spirituality. This provides a comprehensive way to identify each individual’s difficulties and challenges, as well as strengths and resources, and to fashion strategies that are bespoke, synergistic, and effective.

How I Can Help

My Background and Credentials

I have been providing psychotherapy and life coaching since 1980, working with all ages and every issue imaginable. Nothing surprises me or is too ‘strange’ or difficult. I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, day programs, residential treatment centres, home-based family therapy, emergency services, and out-patient therapy agencies. I have worked with children and adults, couples, families, and groups. I have worked within organizations, as well as privately.

I earned my Master’s degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado in 1984 and have trained in many different models of therapy since then: psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural, dialectical behavioural therapy, contemplative, brief solution-focused, narrative, strengths-based, systemic family therapy, motivational interviewing, and more. While I am skilled in many different methods, I take an integral or integrative approach that uses and knits them together in a way that fits each unique individual.

In addition, for 5 years I was Executive Director for Windhorse Associates, Inc. in Northampton, MA in the US. Windhorse is a US non-profit organisation that provides compassionate, home-based, whole-person care for those struggling with major mental health issues.

In May of 2008 I relocated to London from the US to marry a native-born Londoner. In September of the same year, I opened my private practice here in London. In addition to my private work, I also have been a member of the Minster Centre, the leading institution in the UK for training in integrative psychotherapy since 1978. I was a tutor at the Minster Centre for 10 years, where I taught a “Foundation Course in Theory and Skills”. As well, for 5 years I taught a course on “Diversity” for second year students. Additionally, I facilitated Experiential Training Groups for students and facilitated group supervision for 2nd and 3rd year students who had clinical placements and were working with clients.

I have been accredited by UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) since 2009.
